‘Tis the Season!!

No…not THAT season (but that one’s coming too!!) – it’s Fall Marathon season. This is the time of year that all runners look forward to and train for and worry about!

I guess my “season” started with the Disneyland Half Marathon back on Labor Day weekend — for the first time I did the entire 13.1 with a friend, and even though we didn’t chat much at all I could really feel a difference.

Then, I headed down to Florida to run the first Volition Half marathon in Orlando.

volition

Of course I had to spend some time with my fabulous friends Angela and Nate. And Na’Cho. And since I wasn’t staying on Walt Diseny World property, our good phriend Phred came along –

The weekend after we got home from Florida I joined some of my running group in tackling the first ever East Coast Beat the Blerch “race” – the biggest draw for me was — Cake. On the course. At the aid stations. Real Cake.

cake

Also cake at the finish line…LOTS of cake!!

Apart from the cake, and the friends, this wasn’t an awesome success for me – advertised as having “some ‘legit’ trails” it actually had *some* legit ROAD – 96% of the course was trail running. Technical, uphill, some downhill, roots, rocks and fallen trees technical. Needless to say, there was not a ton of running but I hung out with a couple of friends for the entire 13.1 (or, if you want to take my Map My Run’s word for it, 33.88) miles 🙂

But now, the season really starts to come alive!

And with that, the perpetual question — WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?!?!?

Later this week I will share all of my planned running outfits, and you can bet there’s gonna be a ton of Skirt Sports! You can have a chance to win some Skirt Gear of your own in the next couple of months – all of my fellow ambassadors are holding contests to give away their favorite item – my giveaway comes up in November. But checkout my Facebook page, or Twitter, for links to current opportunities to win.

Also – if you’re on Pinterest (and I know you are!) – We’re having another contest and chance to show your #REALwomenmove spirit! To get involved just ….

Okay…okay….

I know….I am SO far behind.

behind

And honestly – I have no legitimate excuse. Unless “lazy” qualifies. But, as I always say “new month, new leaf”! Or…I’m saying it now 🙂

So this week prepare to be inundated with knowledge – or….just tales of my travels and races and jobs and plans and how that whole insulin pump thing is working for me….maybe some Phred in there…

This is the Mister on his 10th birthday — handsome as ever!

I’ve got a report on my Giveaway from last month – Spoiler  Bethany Patel will be enjoying her 13er finisher’s skirt and 50 dollar gift certificate to spend at SkirtSports  And,  it’s not too late to get in on the action — just head over to the events tab at SkirtSports and sign up! Though, you are a little too late to get the finishers skirt with artwork, you’ll still get the same awesome skirt. And that 50 dollar gift certificate!  And don’t forget, you can use my discount code while you’re there — SSORF20 – that’ll give you 10% off and who can argue with that?

Anyway, you should probably set aside time to do some reading (hey, I ran the marathon in Paris and it was fun…so you get to FINALLY hear about it!!)

So, I did actually *physically* finish…

Can’t wait to finally really get back on the ball. And hey, you gotta bet that training for another marathon is gonna start off really soon and you all know how much fun that will be!!!

Take care and have a GREAT weekend!!!

So. It’s April :)

And that means time for some new and improved goals/resolutions!!  Let’s see how well I do this time around!!

Things started out great when the mailman came bright and early and brought me my new SkirtSports loot!!  Two new skirts, a tank and a new grown-up running bra! I can’t wait to wear my new Gym Girl Ultra for Saturday’s Greater Hartford Quarter Marathon!!

Better pictures soon!!

Sunday is Easter, of course, and I’m hoping to head to NYC to spend a bit of time with my cousin from Minnesota!

And there’s that packing thing that I’ve started…

010

Oh. And taxes? Yeah. Should probably finish those before I leave the country!!

tax time

And now for the goals.

goals are dreams

Since I haven’t been terribly successful the last couple of months, I’m aiming low. I need the feeling I’ll get from actually accomplishing what I set out to do!! Plus I’ll be starting that new job (FINALLY!!) and need to figure out my schedule!

And so I bring you Anne’s April Goals:

  • Running – I set my monthly mileage goal pretty low, and definitely attainable – 35 miles. Yeah. Kind of a cop out but … that’s that. Also a running goal – to finish the Paris Marathon while there is still support on the course!! The course limit is between 5:40 and 6:00 depending on what I look at. My PR is 6:18. The only solace I can give myself is that the 6:18 was done with VERY very little training. So. We shall see!! If nothing else, it will be a gorgeous tour through Paris!!
  • Organization – I did a pretty decent job in March of getting my office cleared out. Some. There’s still a bit to go so I’ll be finishing that up this month. As well as getting my basement a little more organized so it can return to a more relaxing kind of place!
  • Other Fitness – again, as every month, I want to be much more consistent with my Bikram practice. At least 3 days a week is not unreasonable at all!! Especially with such a low mileage goal.
  • Insulin Pumping/Health – I should hopefully get this figured out and stable by the end of the month! It’s a never ending adventure though!

I figure this is all very do-able – and I should see much success in a few weeks and head into the summer ready to start training for the Marine Corps Marathon!!

Flashback to Beating the Bridge in 2014!!

But before any of this…I have some packing to do and some Francais to be parlez-ing 🙂 And a little matter of my Third 26.2 in 6 months!
