Weekly Training Report – Week ending Feb 5

6 Feb

Okay so…

cute-bee-checking-in-graphic

It took me a while to get some motivation this week and I didn’t hit ALL of my goals (well, any of them actually…)

But I did get out and get some miles in

Here’s what happened compared to what was planned….

Tuesday – 4.5 Miles – Storm turned out to be more ice than snow and, well, I bailed on my run.
Wednesday – 7 Miles  No excuse whatsoever but I once again didn’t run…this isn’t looking too good…
Thursday – 4.5 Miles – Um….Seriously I need to get on this!
Friday – Always a Rest Day – I was pretty fed up with myself by Friday afternoon so went to the treadmill for 3.25 slow miles Yay me!!
Saturday – 10 Miles – It was cold. It was windy. But it was also sunny and beautiful and my first long run since Wine and Dine was done! Though I ended up at home after 8 miles, it was good to get out there
Sunday – 5 Miles – plan said 5, I did 4

Lots of layers and I survived!!

All in all, not a stellar performance – and I need to get back to a better pace but I think my motivation may be returning. And I feel like I’m re-learning some stuff. Like, proper fueling, especially the night before. I partially blame my low mileage on Saturday on poor fuel Friday night. And dressing for the weather — I was comfortable for the most part while running but didn’t realize til I got home and took off my outer layer that I was DRENCHED in sweat and therefore FROZEN once I stopped moving!

Coming up this week —

Tuesday – 5 Miles
Wednesday – 8 Miles
Thursday – 5 Miles
Saturday – Rest day
Sunday – 10K Race
(I don’t have anything in the calendar but will run 6.2 – or close to it – on Sunday!)

Hopefully my motivation REALLY has come back and I’ll get all 24 miles done this week!!

And coming up tomorrow — some exciting news (that you might already know, but maybe not!!)

Time to Get Back At It

31 Jan

Happy Tuesday!

I can’t believe it’s already the end of January – and honestly I feel like I’ve gotten NOTHING done. That’s probably pretty close to accurate too.

But that stops today!

makeithappen

I have a shell of a race schedule for the year – at least the first few months – and first up is the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon on March 4. So, yeah, 4 weeks away!!

Usually, I’m fine with heading out to a half marathon in a semi-prepared mode. This one is “flat and fast” though so I’m really hoping I’ll be able to do well enough to not be stuck in the back corrals at races that do that sort of thing (I’m looking at you runDisney!). This means I need to get some miles in.

So with that in mind, I bring you

THIS WEEK’S RUNNING PLAN!!!!

Plan consists of Cross Training on Monday which I usually use for stretching and that sort of thing – I’m not really 100% sure what I would do to cross train – maybe longer dog walks?

The Running:
Tuesday – 4.5 Miles We’re expecting a ‘storm’ today so hoping I’ll get a chance to run in the snow this afternoon!!
Wednesday – 7 Miles
Thursday – 4.5 Miles
Friday – Always a Rest Day
Saturday – 10 Miles
Sunday – 5 Miles

I bet you can’t wait until Monday to hear how I did!!! I know I’m on the edge of my seat!!

train

And this also means I only have 4 weeks to figure out what to wear!!! You know that will include some awesome Skirt Sports (more on that next time!!)

Have a great Tuesday – and if you’re in New England get out there and get your supplies!!!

Happy (Lunar) New Year!!!!

28 Jan

lunar-new-year

Ah.

So here we are – Yes, we’re 3 weeks in to the New Year (4 weeks?) and it’s like I’ve been in hiding right?

What about consistency Anne? What about better blogging Anne? Where have you been ANNE???

You are absolutely right!

I started the year with a trip to Disney — which really makes it hard for me to re-adapt to the real world. But it was Disney and it was fun so I don’t feel *too* bad about it! But more on that later (see, I didn’t say “soon” so… 🙂 )

And that consistency thing? Well, I’ve actually been working on that – behind the scenes as it were.

How you might ask?

Well, let’s see….

I’ve been planking every day — and it’s HARD. Though I’m up to 90 seconds so that’s some progress
I’ve been working on more consistent meals during the work week – batch cooking on Sunday. And it’s been healthy batch cooking too!
I’ve been making sure that there are no dirty dishes in the sink when I go to bed at night.

They’re baby steps but better than I usually am!

I really do have to step it up though – my 2017 race dance card is filling up with my first Half Marathon of the year in FIVE WEEKS!! So really need to get back to running, right?!!

So starting this week – tomorrow even – I’ll go back to posting my weekly run schedule and my progress with sticking to it. It truly helps me stay on track. And keeps me – what? – that’s right, Accountable.

Wish me luck!!! And send those good consistency vibes my way!!

Oh, and, really – Happy New Year!!!

Well. This is Embarrassing.

First off, thanks for stopping by — 2016 was not the best for this site. I was MIA for most of it. I would plan a post, get it mostly written out (you should see my draft folder!) and then need pictures from my phone or camera and then…..crickets. Then a couple of weeks later I’d do the same. And again and again.

Then, I would be all “Well, I haven’t posted about June so I can’t jump in to August and now look it’s New Year’s Eve Eve and dang….lost the whole year”. Frankly, I beat myself up a lot about it. Which is dumb but I do dumb sometimes!

And, somewhere along the line I lost ALL my mojo — my running mojo, my eating right mojo, my MOJO! I had little motivation to do much of anything.

Hopefully 2017 will be different – I am hoping to be completely mojo’d out! Or, at least be better than I was in 2016

A friend of mine (probably a few friends actually) chooses a word for the year and I’ve determined that for 2017 my word is CONSISTENCY.

consistency-1

Consistency in everything I think and do.

That means, consistently following through on my plans.

Consistently following a training plan for whatever crazy runs I sign up for this year.

Consistently working towards a much healthier diet

And, consistently posting here – and not kicking myself for days when I don’t. I had hoped in the beginning to use this blog as a means of being accountable to myself and that has just not happened as much as I’d thought.

So, being consistently accountable for my actions (good, bad and otherwise!) is a big goal. Probably the biggest of all.

Of course I also have the usual “lose weight” “get stronger” “do new stuff” resolutions ….but more on that soon.

Really.

If you’re here, thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll keep in touch. And if I happen to write something you like, share with your friends.

Hope to see LOTS more of you this year

keep-it

Weekly WrapUp!

22 Feb

I’ve made the executive decision to make Saturday the day I wrap up my week…which, makes sense right? So that’s why this is going up on Sunday morning 😉

It’s been a super cold week here, but at least the snow has stopped – not that *I* don’t like the snow (cause I love it!!) but I know it’s a hassle for people! And, for the record, I’d rather have cold and snow than bitter cold and no snow!!

Anyway – after making my declaration earlier this week that I needed to, for lack of a better turn of phrase, poop or get off the pot, I made a very concerted effort to get out to the gym/treadmill and to Bikram. And to eat better. AND to drink less wine.

And now for the update on that other stuff!

Well, I made it to the treadmill on Tuesday and Saturday….tendonitis was acting up, even with taping so trying to not aggravate things too much.
Made it to Bikram Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday — and, seriously I already feel tons better!

Had a second job interview this week too, and so far I’m still in the running — hopefully will hear more early in the week. There’s one more step before they’ll offer me the job!

And…starting Monday I’ll be doing a 10-day Cleanse – not your typical cleanse where you drink some nasty liquid for an interminable amount of time but a cleanse that includes actual real food. And, judging from the menus, 90% of it is something I’ll like – the rest I’ll substitute/repeat meals. The focus is not on what I’m giving up, but on the good I’m doing for myself. Over the last couple of days I’ve been cutting back on coffee (gasp!), wine, and sugar, refined flours….all the things that we know aren’t really doing us any good! A few of those things I don’t eat much anyway. I did the first of my shopping yesterday and will do more today.

The most difficult part of this cleanse, I think, is “no strenuous exercising”…and I have a marathon coming up in what? 6 weeks? So I’ll do some slow treadmill miles and keep going to Bikram- which should be just fine!! And it’ll be great for my tendonitis too, to take a break

My goal for this coming week is to keep getting more consistent with my Bikram practice as well as getting in as many miles on the treadmill as i can without my foot falling off!! I’m not going to hit my mileage goal for the month but I will get in as much as I can in the next 7 days!! And I’ll also start deciding my mileage goal for March.

new week
