I know….I am SO far behind.

And honestly – I have no legitimate excuse. Unless “lazy” qualifies. But, as I always say “new month, new leaf”! Or…I’m saying it now 🙂

So this week prepare to be inundated with knowledge – or….just tales of my travels and races and jobs and plans and how that whole insulin pump thing is working for me….maybe some Phred in there…

This is the Mister on his 10th birthday — handsome as ever!

I’ve got a report on my Giveaway from last month – Spoiler  Bethany Patel will be enjoying her 13er finisher’s skirt and 50 dollar gift certificate to spend at SkirtSports  And,  it’s not too late to get in on the action — just head over to the events tab at SkirtSports and sign up! Though, you are a little too late to get the finishers skirt with artwork, you’ll still get the same awesome skirt. And that 50 dollar gift certificate!  And don’t forget, you can use my discount code while you’re there — SSORF20 – that’ll give you 10% off and who can argue with that?

Anyway, you should probably set aside time to do some reading (hey, I ran the marathon in Paris and it was fun…so you get to FINALLY hear about it!!)

So, I did actually *physically* finish…

Can’t wait to finally really get back on the ball. And hey, you gotta bet that training for another marathon is gonna start off really soon and you all know how much fun that will be!!!

Take care and have a GREAT weekend!!!

As always, I am right on the ball with things!

Last week, my favorite athletic skirt company – SkirtSports – kicked off our #REALwomenmove campaign.

In the words of SkirtSports founder and CEO Nicole DeBoom – “We are surrounded by messages of intimidation and exclusiveness in the world of fitness. My #REALwomenmove goal is to stop the madness and show women that being fit is something we can all do, regardless of our size, shape or activity level”

And it’s true. I spent the past weekend at the Happiest Place on Earth – running at an event where 87% of the participants were women. And they were women of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. And it was awe-inspiring. Everyone putting in their best effort to get something done. And generally it was to get something done for themselves!

So here’s where you get to play along! Share with the community — spread the word! In your social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) post pictures of what #REALwomenmove means to you, along with the Hashtag of course!! Once we hit 5000 hashtags, someone is gonna win some goodies including the chance to train with Jenny Hadfield for 3 months!!

Now, I know that a lot of my friends participate in one photo-a-day challenge or another…and so we’ve got one for you this week! And, guess what?! That’s right. More prizes! Our friends at FitApproach will be giving away 5 entries to the upcoming Skirts Sports 13er which you can do virtually or in beautiful Louiville, CO. Each entry includes a $125 dollar gift certificate to Skirt Sports too so it’s really a no-lose proposition!

Your Photo Challenge Prompts for this week are:

Get moving! Show us your favorite way to stay active. @fitapproach #REALwomenmove #sweatpink #skirtsports

Day 2: Tuesday
Who’s your adventure buddy? Show us your #realwomenmove bestie. @fitapproach #REALwomenmove #sweatpink #skirtsports

Day 3: Wednesday
What’s your favorite outfit to get moving in? Bonus points for rocking your @SkirtSports gear! 😉 @fitapproach #REALwomenmove #sweatpink #skirtsports

Day 4: Thursday
Who do you move for? Who’s your motivation, your biggest cheerleader, your rock? Shout ‘em out! @SkirtSports @fitapproach #REALwomenmove #sweatpink #skirtsports

Day 5: Friday:
Pat yo’self on the back! What’s your proudest #REALwomenmove accomplishment? @fitapproach #sweatpink #skirtsports

And, coming up later this week, I’ll also have an entry to the 13er to give away

I really hope you all join in, and tell your friends!!! It’s gonna be a lot of fun, you might even make some new friends – but you’ll definitely get the word out that #REALwomenmove!!!

It isn’t always graceful!!!

Last week, a bit more than an hour away from me, was the running of the 119th Boston Marathon. There were thousands running – men and women of all ages.

But that wasn’t always the case.

Today, as women, we don’t think twice about signing up for a marathon. Okay, so maybe we think at least twice about it, but we know that we are allowed to sign up and that we will be accepted on the course.

Back in the olden days, or, you know, 1967, Kathrine Switzer became the first woman to register for and complete the Boston Marathon. While, there is really no such thing as an “easy” marathon, KS had a particularly rough time. It was a cold snowy/rainy day and, frankly, the BAA officials didn’t want her on the course. In fact, at one point, there was an attempt to physically pull her from the road. The men she was running with, including her coach and her boyfriend, prevented the removal.

It took another 5 years for women to be officially allowed to register for the Boston Marathon.

For that we can thank Kathrine Switzer. Her fearlessness in the face of anti-woman sentiment on the course opened doors for all of us. A 20-year old college student who just knew she could cover the miles decided to do it!

To learn more about Kathrine, check out her website — — and for a really interesting look at what really happened back in 1967, see what Kathrine herself has to say. It’s eye-opening, enlightening and really very inspiring!

If you want to show your own #Fearless side, check out the SkirtSports 261 collection – and use code SSORF20 on everything that ISN’T on sale and get 20% off!! It’s also good for the Virtual runs – there are a couple coming up!!!
