Update! Motivation Found!!!

Just wanted to drop a quickie out here — as I’ve mentioned recently, I have been severely lacking in motivation lately. For anything really, but mostly for being active.

I’ve never been able to find the perfect “bribe” for myself that would get me moving…Well, friends, yesterday I figured it out.

Yep! That’s right. The contents of my Skirt Sports shopping cart! I’ve got a gift certificate and a discount to use and I REALLY WANT these capris! But I cannot hit “Checkout” until I have a good consistent week of working out — I don’t care what kind, but there needs to be consistency.

And these aren’t the only items I’ve got my eyes on….

Something tells me my motivation might get a little expensive if I’m not super careful!!! Though, truth be told, once I get a good workout week in, I’m pretty sure my motivation will be amped up and I won’t need to bribe myself. So much 🙂

 

Monday Motivation – and a Wrap Up!

Another weekend is over and it’s time for another recap of my week!

On Wednesday I finished up my 10-Day Cleanse and am already making plans to go through it once more! I’ve managed to MOSTLY keep eating clean but some of my old faves are slipping back in (Hello glass of wine with Scandal!). It’s not the end of the world, of course, but I definitely liked the way I felt on the cleanse so I just need to be more vigilant about what I’m putting in my mouth!

And also need to watch for the “why” I choose to eat something – I learned during the cleanse that I do a lot of eating from boredom. Or – just because. This will hopefully get easier when I’m out of the house all day working!

Now, working out and running was not as successful as the eating. It wasn’t a complete bust, but it wasn’t what I’d hoped for for myself! But that’s what Monday’s are for, right? A new chance to get it right this week!

I’m hoping to be a little more motivated since I’d like to get the basis for a ‘routine’ down before I start work – the plan this week is to mimic, as much as I can, a work-week. This means taking the 6:30 pm Bikram class Tues-Thursday and the 5:30 pm class on Friday. AND..getting up super early to get to the gym and get at least an hour of treadmill in (at least until it’s light enough, and warm enough, to run outside in the mornings) and some work with weights. Mondays will be kind of a free-for-all since I *know* that I tend to be wiped out on Mondays so while I hope to get to Bikram, there’s a chance I won’t – and I won’t beat myself up about it!!

I’ve also decided to reward myself after my first week of work/new workout schedule – with the Alex & Ani March Bangle of the Month. So let’s see how that motivation works out now!!

Where is the Time Going?!!

Well, when I left you I was getting ready to head to Florida for the runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. So I’ve been a bit lax in recapping that trip. And it was a good trip!! Then there was the Santa Hustle half marathon. And the whole training thing. A birthday. And Thanksgiving….And hey, remember that Disney trip where I didn’t run? That was a good one too! And, yeah, lost my job as well.

And I’ve done NOTHING to get those recaps done. On top of that I have a couple of product reviews coming up that I’m excited about! Especially since it should help people decide what to get me for Christmas! 😉

So I’ll start with Training. Cause as you know #Dopey15 is getting Closer and closer and closer…and soon, the call will be coming from inside the house!

And, as you may have come to expect, I’ve had my ups and downs …twinges and cramps and strange pains coming from nowhere. I am more concerned at this point with trying to not be injured. And the cold doesn’t help! Though I love the winter and snow and all that means…it doesn’t make it easy to get out there but of course once I’m a mile or so in things go well. With the various twinges and aches KTTape is becoming my best friend for sure!

Coming up this weekend, I have a 19 miler and a 9 miler. Planning the 19-er on Saturday and of course the forecast calls for rain. I need to research great rain gear don’t I? Maybe a trip to Dick’s is in order for the day. Or, I think I have some coupons for Sports Authority. I am DEFINITELY accepting suggestions – what do YOU wear in the rain for running??

Next week I’ll be at a friend’s house where hopefully the weather won’t be bitter 🙂 (and that will be another awesome recap I need to get on top of!!!)

My plan today is to get on some Christmas decorating and run a few errands then settle in to do some updating – with any luck you’ll be inundated with posts today!! Or at least the next couple of days!!

But, no guarantee they’ll be in chronological order 🙂

Wrapping it Up and Looking Ahead!!

And, it’s once again time to wrap up my week!! I’m already a day late, so let’s get started 🙂

The Galloway plan for the week called for

Tuesday 45 minute run/walk
Thursday 45 minute run/walk
Saturday 5.5 miles

The spirit was very willing this week! So yay!! 🙂 And, I have to say, I’m noticing things getting easier on my runs, which is the whole point of this training thing!

Tuesday — I got up and just did it! Because really…you have to 🙂 3 miles + a bit extra.
Thursday — Thursday evening was the Hartford Marathon Foundation “Run the Rent” 5K — this takes place at an old airfield near Rentschler field. I did this one last year and it was really a nice run so signed up again this year. Not quite 45 minutes and 3.2 miles
Saturday — Initially, I thought that I was going to go to NYC for the day but when I slept in (til 7:30 ya’ll!!) I decided I’d get some things done around the house – spoiler alert: I didn’t get much done 🙂  So I got up Sunday and headed out for my 5.5 before the forecast storms hit. At around 1.4 I felt a “pop” in my left calf. At 1.5 I accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to be able to run much more and turned around. So, 3 miles total, Thanks to my ProCompression socks and an ice pack I wasn’t completely incapacitated all day!

This coming week should be a good one! Hoping to add in an extra run to make up for shortening the weekend’s run. In addition to crossing all my upcoming big finish lines strong, I am also aiming to really put in ALL of the required miles, even if it means making it up along the way. Heading out of town for a couple of days on Friday so also want to get Saturday’s 3 miler in before I go! If things go well, this will be my first four-in-a-row and while I won’t be waking up super super early (as I would at Disney!) it’ll get me in the right frame of mind for doing a four in a row weekend (Hello #Dopey15!!)

And some sad news 😦 I’ve mentioned re-upping for another year at my local Bikram studio but learned last week that she’ll be closing in 2 days.  So I am truly going to have to commit to making this effort since the next closest place is a bit of a longer drive. But, they offer an early morning class every week-day so I will really appreciate having that option.
