Well, I am 4 days in on this 10-Day cleanse and I’m kind of amazed that I have made it this far!!
I have given up coffee and wine and bread completely for this cleanse. And meat. I haven’t had meat since last week. And Dairy.
And, it surprises me as much as anyone, that I have lasted this long without yogurt or milk! And coffee.
Coffee was tough – I developed the oh so familiar caffeine withdrawal headache around 11 am on Monday. And it hung on til sometime Tuesday afternoon! For those who plan ahead, this can be alleviated with some larger doses of Vitamin C — I did not plan THAT well 🙂
This cleanse, which you can find at Live Love Fitness, is really way easier than I thought it would be. As you know I’ve tried to do a #Whole30 in the past and that has never gone terribly well!! Maybe it just took a certain level of frustration with the way my eating habits have gone downhill for something to stick. And I think the timing was just right. When Mary Jane posted in our #SweatPink group that she was looking for people to do this Cleanse and report on it, I jumped all over it!! (Note: MaryJane provided me with free access to the Cleanse in return for my feedback)
So, the food. All whole, unprocessed, and for the most part Vegan (I may be cheating a little on that front…). There is plenty of food. And having a full meal plan + recipes for 10 days gives me no reason/excuse to just eat whatever is in front of me.
The HUGE thing I’ve had driven home is that I tend to be a mindless snacker! I am hoping that once I get a job this will be easier to control – currently when I get bored/antsy, I head into the kitchen and stick something in my mouth. Now, I wander into the kitchen and realize that I’m not actually hungry so I grab some water and move on!
And I mentioned the wine thing right? Well, I learned last night that it is entirely possible to watch Survivor without a glass of wine!!
Thank goodness there is no Scandal this week though!!! That Olivia Pope is a bad influence!!
I know I have 6 days to go. And my plan is to keep on keeping on!!
Hard to believe, the toughest part is the “no strenuous exercise” — and unfortunately so far this week I have stuck to that strictly. I do need to get back to Bikram though, and get some walking miles in on the treadmill. In the long run, I need to be able to integrate the super healthy aspects of the Cleanse with my training and stretching and couch avoidance!! So I’ll start with baby steps and get back in the hot room tonight and back to the gym and hot room tomorrow!
Tell Me Somethin' Good!!
