As you’ve heard, ad nauseam, #Dopey15 training started last Tuesday!
The Galloway plan for the week called for
Tuesday 45 minute run/walk
Thursday 45 minute run/walk
Saturday 3 miles
The plan was to get up early Tuesday and kick things off right but I woke up with a brutal headache. Luckily by the time my work day ended I was feeling SUPER!! So when I hung up my last call, I pulled on my shoes and got this this started!
Tuesday — 5 minute warm-up followed by 35 minutes at 1:1 intervals. I’m calling it 2.5 miles of actual work 🙂 It was humid, it was warm. I got really sweaty!!
Thursday — 5 minute warm-up followed by 45 minutes at 1:1 slow intervals. I did this on Sunday 🙂 Still working on getting into a groove, but it’s happening. Still around 2.5
Saturday — 5 minute warm-up followed by 3 miles. Did in 1:1 intervals. Ran past a wedding so hope I wasn’t singing too loudly!! Another warmish day, but not so bad humidity wise. I still managed to work up a good sweat!
My goal is to get closer to a 3:1 or a 4:1 interval by the time race weekend rolls around. Will be putting this training to the test first off at the Hogsback Half in late September (where I hope to better my Proof of Time so I can get into a higher corral in January). Can’t wait to see the improvement between now and then!!
I will be adding in the Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred and The Firm’s Upper Body workout on non-running days – I figure anything that can help me get in better shape is going to make my marathon more enjoyable! Plus…of course…there’s another DietBet coming up… 😉
So how was your week? Did you get up and get moving?!! I can’t do this alone ya’ll!!
Looking forward to following along with Dopey training. I haven’t been brave enough to dive into that yet but love following the brave souls who are. 🙂 Good luck!
Thanks!!
Well done! Good JM reminder too!
I did get moving, but now it’s time to take my training to the next level! Good to see you planning for Dopey now! Go get it!
Thanks!!!
Well I hit that 1st 45 Minutes on Tuesday no issues Thank to the local Fit 2 Run meet up. Then Thursday rolled around and I found myself avoiding the 45 minutes… I finally put my shoes on around 8:45pm and ended the last 15 minutes in the rain. Lesson learned. I did the Saturday run Sunday morning aka this morning good thing cause the sky opened up around 11am and hasn’t stopped. I feel pretty good about week one. :o) Ps JM 30 day shred on off days sounds like a good plan.
Yeah…I need to stop hitting snooze in the morning and just get up and get it done before work! I’d be much happier 🙂
