A few weeks ago, I won an entry to a race down in Williamsburg Virginia. I’ve only been through there once, when I first moved up to the East Coast. And I only spent a couple of hours and didn’t actually go to the Colonial part of Williamsburg. I’ve been doing some research and finding out there is a lot to do down there. Which means I definitely need to plan another, longer trip to those parts!
So now it’s the day before I’m leaving and if you’ve been following along, you know that I have not yet begun to pack!! Though, this should be an easy one since I’m driving. But driving also means I need to pack some road snacks! Okay, mostly water and drinks but also a couple of granola bars and some Power Crunch bars! (ps, the Vanilla are actually my favorites!)
But, since I’m going for a running event, obviously I need to pack my running “things” — my stick, my foam roller, my KT Tape, my Garmin, my Walkman. Oh, yeah and of course running shoes and clothes! And since it’s an *early* race (not runDisney early, but early!) I am guessing that the breakfast offered by the hotel won’t be available so…instant oatmeal!
The good news about an early early race is that I will then have the entire day to be a tourist – one of my favorite things! Race entry includes entry to Colonial Williamsburg so that’s on the agenda! There’s also a Colonial Wine Trail – and you know I love a good wine trail!!
Things I probably won’t get a chance to do? Busch Gardens (roller coasters!!) and Watertown USA (water park!!!) So just another reason to go back.’
I’m probably most looking forward to breakfast with one of my amazing sorority sisters on Sunday though! She wasn’t able to come to our mini-reunion earlier this year so it’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen her and I can’t wait!
But before I leave I have a long work day ahead, then cleaning the recycling out of the car and taking my pal to his babysitter!
Are you running the Run For the Dream race in Williamsburg? I ran that one last year and although it was one of the hardest races i’ve done (cus the weather was so darn hot), it was easily the most organized and offered SO much! Good luck to you!
Thanks I am doing the 8K. Not nearly ready for a half just now!! I can’t wait!!
