All in all, this was a good weekend!
Started with a nice job interview Friday afternoon and ending – hopefully – with watching the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight (though, I read that it will also be peaking tomorrow night so I’ll catch it one way or another!!)

Friday night post-interview I hung out with my dog and did not much of anything at all – a little housework and some afternoon Bikram but nothing terribly exciting. Saturday was more work around the house since the guest room needed straightening for an overnight guest!
Saturday night, Kathy came over from Rhode Island and we went out to East Hartford for The Electric Run. Review to follow but YES! This is a must-do event!! Like a healthy rave! Such great energy and, though I didn’t wear my watch, possibly my fastest 5K ever!! Kathy and I love watching scary movies when she visits and post-race was no exception – The Possession. Definitely a scary one!
Late night race + late night scary movie = sleeping in on Sunday. OR….sleeping til 6:30 or so. We headed out for breakfast and a quick trip to the store before Kathy headed home and I headed out to mow the lawn. Post mowing shower followed by re-heating frozen pizza and watching The Hunger Games for the bazillionth time! A satisfying weekend was had by me.
The week ahead holds no excitement whatsoever! Even next weekend is a catch up on training and house stuff weekend with no running events planned. Work is going to be work – me getting it done but not really caring too much, my boss pretending I don’t know she knows I’m leaving….eventually….
My goal for this week is to hit Bikram as much as possible and to cover my required training miles. And, to get my costume together for the Disneyland Half Marathon in a mere..20 days?
Best Part of the weekend? Definitely the Electric Run!!
Worst Part? I could have had a blood sugar emergency last night when I hit a blood vessel doing my insulin injection. It’s happened once before and when it happens you can taste the insulin in the back of your throat (for the record, insulin smells like band-aids). “Luckily” I’d been drinking a fruit juice based cocktail so my blood sugar was a little elevated. The other time it happened I dropped to a blood sugar of around 25 which is ER worthy…
I hope EVERYONE had a fantastic weekend and is looking forward to a nice week ahead!
