Where has the time gone?! I am so far behind but the biggest news is that I finished the Whole30 — a couple of days early but I did get through *almost* a month!
While I wasn’t 100% for the whole month, I did make some pretty significant changes to my eating habits:
- I was never a huge bread eater — but cereal? Crackers? Oh yeah! I’m all over that. While I’m sure I won’t ever completely give up my oatmeal or cheerios I am certainly not eating as much. And Ritz? Again, I won’t lose them completely but they aren’t the first snack I reach for.
- Dairy. I am addicted. And fortunately for me, I don’t have any bad reactions — and I find that a cup of Greek yogurt can fill me up for a few hours in the morning. And I’ll be happy to get back to my post-Bikram chocolate milk, it’s the one treat I can count on almost every day!
- I have always loved fruit especially in the hot summer months. And the hot summer months are here for sure!! I have to balance my desire to eat fruit all day every day with managing my blood sugar but it’s worth the effort!
- I have not been craving sweets as much as normal and I think this is the biggest win of the month. I won’t lie and say that National Donut Day was easy 🙂 And I do occasional feel great desire for a cupcake – but when there’s none available it’s much easier!
I ended this weekend on account of I had company – which when I get better at this will be no excuse! – so there was wine. There was cheese. There were cookies (I have to make cookies for people who visit, it’s the LAW!!). And there was pizza – but just one slice and it was a light pizza. See how good I am at making excuses?!!
All in all, while I didn’t manage to make it through 100 Percent – I did make some pretty big changes that won’t go away anytime soon. So I’m going to give myself credit for this — And I do plan on doing another Whole30 challenge. And this time I will wait until there are no holidays or vacations in the book!
And, even though it’s July 2, this month I’ll be doing another challenge — I just have to hurry up and pick one!!!
Tell Me Somethin' Good!!
